Drawn, hung and . . .

Nearly a hundred prints are now on Thebes Gallery's walls, lots more work in the browsers, more cards than you could shake a stick at (feel free as long as your stick is clean), and even copies of the Printmakers' High Street calendar - what more could you ask? And all ready on time - thanks to everyone! - the exhibition opened this morning. Above are a few pics.

The L - O - N - G Books

Paddock Printmakers have published two concertina-fold books, 'High Street' and 'Cliffe.' The books, each around 15ft long when fully extended, feature reproductions of handmade prints from the group's last two exhibitions. They portray buildings on and around Lewes's historic High Street and Cliffe areas, using a variety of printmaking techniques. Both books were produced in a limited edition of fifty, and a few copies of 'Cliffe' are still available. Also this year, the group published a 2006 calendar which features prints from the High Street book. To obtain either, or for more details, contact: paddock.prints@britishlibrary.net

Pop Over The Road

While you're in Lewes for the Press Gang exhibition, you'll be able to walk just a few yards and find another fine display of beautiful prints. Adamczewski, at 196 High Street, is hosting a retrospective of wood engravings by Diana Bloomfield, to mark her 90th birthday. Diana started and ran the printmaking classes at the Paddock, before handing the reins to Carolyn Trant in the mid-90's.

The retrospective features examples of Diana's work from 1955 - 1980, and is open from Tuesday 29th November until Saturday 10th December (excluding Monday 5th Dec.), from 10 till 5 daily. You'll find Adamczewski across the High Street from Church Twitten, and a few yards up the hill.
